Who Built Windsor Castle?

Windsor Castle was founded by William the Conqueror around 1070, chosen for its strategic location near London and a royal hunting forest. Originally built in timber, it was later rebuilt in stone by Henry II. Edward III transformed it into a grand Gothic palace in the 14th century. The Tudors added key features like the Henry VIII Gateway. Elizabeth I carried out major repairs and added a long gallery. Charles II modernised the interiors with Baroque design. George III introduced neoclassical elements and gothic features. George IV enhanced the castle's grandeur by raising the Round Tower and reinforcing its Gothic style
